Equine Guided Learning
Equine Guided Learning (EGL) & Personal Development sessions teach life skills, build self confidence, regulate the emotions, develop emotional intelligence, and sensory body awareness. It is an activity orientated approach with more emphasis on ground based exercises and relationship building with horses.
Equine Guided Learning may be used for a variety of different clients including;
Young people at risk & Parents
Adopted children & Parents
Schoolchildren, including those with Special Educational Needs & Parents
Veterans and Armed Forces
Groups and individuals
Sessions last between 1 hour and 90 mins. Typically, we recommend between 8-12 weekly sessions. Weekly groups and weekend workshops can be provided for schools and other organisations.
No experience with horses is necessary, and most of the time is spent on the ground communicating with the horse, guided by experienced facilitators. Riding may be included in the sessions by mutual agreement of client and therapist.
