Horses are excellent teachers in our journey to discover and understand ourselves. This is because they are herd animals, social by nature, and therefore have a heightened sense of awareness of the rest of their herd members, which include us! Horses are preyed upon in nature, and so have a keen ability to sense changes in their herd members, and they do the same in their interactions with us. They sense changes in emotion, energy levels, behaviour, focus and intention, and immediately reflect that information back to us.

Do we always know how we are feeling? Are we always aware of how we are behaving or affecting others? Horses are radars for inauthenticity, and will reward us when we behave in a way that is in keeping with how we really feel. Horses live entirely in the NOW, offering us patience, forgiveness and another chance when we get it wrong.
